For the first time AFC St Austell will be able to play under lights and stage midweek football at Poltair Park.

It took the club 3 years from the initial start of the planning stage to acquiring the necessary funds and completing the construction works.

AFC St Austell's Darryl Stamp said, "The club would like to thank Paul Nicholson of Nicholson electrical, Justin Lewis of Lewis construction and the many sponsors and fans and in particular St Austell brewery who have all made the whole project come to fruition."

Cornwall FA's County Development Manager, Andy Micthell added," We supported their application to the Football Foundation ‘Football Stadia investment Fund’ and the club's application to the FA trust scheme as well as routing them through to the Football Foundation."

The FA National Sports Centre Trust participated with a grant of £10,000, the Football Foundation FSiF awarded £28,168 and the club raised the rest of the total project cost of £56,335.

The first game under floodlights is on Friday 27th January 2012 v Buckland Athletic in the SW Peninsula League KO 7.45pm.
