Insurance

Cornwall FA engages Insurers on behalf of its member clubs. It is part of the rules governing football in Cornwall that all clubs are insured under the County scheme.  There is a Note to Referees below too.

Public Liability and Personal Accident Scheme 2011-12
The Personal Accident Insurance will continue to be arranged with ACE European Group and the Liability covers will remain with Sportscover, both in association with Bluefin.

The deferment period for the Weekly Benefits payments has been increased to 14 days and this in turn means reduced premiums.

Once again Cornwall FA will be paying the premium for the Liability covers for affiliated clubs. Clubs do still need to apply directly to Buddens Westinsure for the Personal Accident covers.

Clubs do have a DUTY OF CARE to ensure their players are protected and unfortunately we are now beginning to see claims arising against clubs for failing to arrange adequate insurance protection for their players.

Player Personal Accident insurance is designed to provide compensation for Players and Officials following injury whilst playing, training and travelling to and from organised club activities.

In addition to providing financial support to the injured person, the provision of this form of insurance can considerably help to ease the increasing litigation culture we are now experiencing within the amateur game.

The minimum level of Weekly Benefits cover available is for an amount of £12.50. Some clubs are allowing their players to make a contribution towards the Clubs Personal Accident Premiums, which in some cases has enabled the club to opt for a higher Weekly Benefit level. However, if the increased premium is beyond your club’s means, it is possible for individual players to arrange their own Personal Accident Policy. Buddens Westinsure can offer a quotation to any player who may be interested.

To arrange your club's cover for the coming season, please download the Insurance Pack on the right.

Cover will be effective from 1 July 2011, or the date payment is received whichever is the later, and will expire on 30 June 2012.

If however you have any queries regarding any aspect of the Scheme, please do not hesitate to contact Buddens Westinsure.

Claims Procedure For Personal Accident to Players
The following details should be notified to Buddens Westinsure as soon as possible after an injury has occurred, which might give rise to a claim:

Name of Player
Name of Club
Nature & date of injury

You will then be provided with a claim form which should be completed in full (including doctor's statement) and returned to Buddens Westinsure together with:
Copy of Medical certificate
Evdience of employment being a copy pay slip or copy of Accounts if the player is self-employed.

The Insurers make benefits payments in arrears and normally made at the end of the period of disability. If, however, the player would like a payment prior to the expiry date of a long term medical certificate, the player will be provided with a letter which should be signed and dated and returned to Buddens Westinsure. A payment will then be issued up to the date of signing the letter.
