The FA Continuous Service Awards
The FA also runs a scheme for service to refereeing to recognise the valuable service referees and all those involved in supporting referees perform in our national game and to reward appropriately the continuous activity of our referees as well as those who support them.
Continuous service is rewarded for whatever role you play in refereeing e.g. referee, assessor, instructor or mentor.
Awards are for 25, 40 & 50 years continuous service
50 year Awards to receive a gold plated medal
The scheme operates throughr ecommendations made by the County Football Association to the Regional Manager on the appropriate form which is available on the right.
All recommendations are then sent to the Head of National Referee Development for consideration and action. A suitably framed certificate is then sent to the County Football Association for presentation. The Head of National Referee Development highlights special awards and presentations are made at significant events such as FA Cup Matches and International games.
2010 West Country Cup
This is the 14th year of the tournament, which attracts teams from all around the country and overseas. This three-day event of football, friendship and family fun is in Newquay from 7th - 9th April and will attract over 1000 young players and their families to Cornwall.
Officials will again play a key part in the tournament if any referee is available for officiating at the competition, please download the form on the right.

Insurance Cover
Please note that The Football Association and the Cornwall County Football Association wish to remind all affiliated referees’ that they are NOT covered with Insurance by The Football Association, Cornwall County Football Association or The Referees’ Association in the event of an incident when officiating in an UNAFFILIATED small sided competition or any UNAFFILIATED competitions.

FAMOA - the FA Match Officials Association
FAMOA is a direct link between The Football Association and all connected with refereeing. With this premise in mind FAMOA should be a vehicle for promoting:
Referee Training Dissemination of good practice Developments in the game Rewards in refereeing
This will then lead to the match officials genuinely being one community as all referees will have been privy to the same information. It is important that match officials are fully incorporated in the vision and mission of the FA. FAMOA exists to support, inform and develop match officials at every stage in their careers.
Benefits of Being a FAMOA Member
Active Referees receive a badge to wear on the referees’ kit. Newly trained referees will receive this badge after refereeing ten matches of 11-a-side football and attending the training course offered to newly qualified referees.

Up to date information on the laws of the game and advice on their application

Two newsletters and a journal
The first newsletter clearly has a different function from subsequent ones. It is important to introduce you to FAMOA and to make you aware of the Regional Manager who will be your first point of contact when you need help and advice.
The Journal, which will appear in the Spring will contain informed articles on refereeing matters. There will also be the opportunity for you to contribute to this with either an article, a news item (preferably with photograph) or a letter to the editor. Regional Managers, County Development Officers, Coaches, etc will be encouraged to submit articles for the newsletter and journal.The publications will have a balanced approach to national and local news and activities. Regional Managers will compile a report on news and events and each Region will be clearly identified.How can managers support their region?
Be a supportive point of contact for individual match officials
Ensure that all match officials clearly understand the new regulations and their purpose.
Inform match officials of the changes to the promotion system – referees and leagues/clubs
Work closely with the RA to share best practice and ideas.
Work with local leagues and associated bodies to improve relationships.
Be pro-active in promoting FAMOA activities.
Promote positive attitudes and information about fitness
Support promising referees in Schools of Excellence, Referee Academies, etc.
Identify training needs and beyond the mandatory courses and respond to data gained from assessors, etc.
Target specific levels of referee for training on some occasions.
Seek opportunities to run larger seminars and conferences in the Region.
Building on current awards system
Local cup finals played at major stadiums in the locality.
Long service awards given by County Associations.
Local officials, not on the promotion ladder being appointed to FA competitions – FA Youth Cup and FA County Youth Cup – recognition of their Senior County Status.
Officiating at Academy matches
ROA – available to all (including a letter from the FA).

FA Cup Final Ref Visits Cornwall
Steve Dunn, who was the man in the middle at the 2001 FA Cup Final was at St Blazey FC on Thursday 20th August 2009.
It's the second in a series of events organised by Cornwall FA's Referee Development Officer, Ray Brown. Ray has made a positive link with the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd -the organisation which appoints, trains and develops match officials who operate on the Premier League and Football League.
The PGMOL will be sending some of their top refs to meetings here in the county aimed at assisting Cornwall FA's recruitment and retention programme for Match Officials.
The latest event follows the highly successful first meeting (see right) which featured presentations from Keith Hackett General Manager of the PGMOL together with Chris Foy and Steve Bennett who have many years experience officiating in the Premier League and overseas.
Former FIFA & Premier League Referee, Steve Dunn, will talk about “Game Management”. Steve a highly experienced referee officiated the 2001 FA Cup Final and is now the Training and Development Manager for the PGMOL.
