The final game for the men's team in this year's South and West Counties Championship was on Wednesday 14th May 2008 against Devon at Liskeard FC. Kick off 7.30pm.
Cornwall 2 -3 Devon
It was the deciding game for the group with the Royal Navy on 5 points, Cornwall on 4 points and Devon on 3 points. Cornwall only needed to draw to become champions, but Devon went ahead 3-1 by half-time in a rain-interrupted half with the referee taking the teams off for about 15 minutes due to lightning. The Cornwall goals were scored by Steve Ovens and Nick Campbell.
There was a special presentation after the match to the retiring team management from Cornwall - Ray Nicholls, Trevor Mewton (not able to be present), Terry Huddy, Martine Ede (not able to be present) and Morrish Truscott. The Championship Trophy was presented to Devon by the SWCC Secretary, Lester Clements. At the present time, there are not enough teams entering for next season to make a viable group, so this was the final game for the Senior team in the SWCC for the foreseeable future.
