Women's U18 Team
The team's record for this season in the Women's U18 Group was won 1 and lost 2, for 5 goals and 12 against. The 3 points left them in third place in the Group of 4 counties.
The U18 Women's last game for this season was away to Somerset away on Thursday 28th February at Cullompton FC. The result was 4-1 to Somerset.
Match Report by Jim Pearcy
This was a spirited and improved performance by a Cornish side which led 1-0 at the break and showed skill and determination.
The Cornwall goal was scored after 36 minutes by Amber Grose who fired a free kick over the head o the Somerset keeper, Amy Edwards, after colleague Alice Rae was fouled.
But it was a strong Somerset side early on who had the best chances. On 9 minutes, Lyndsay Whitton broke through but side-footed the wrong side of the post. Three minutes later it took a decisive challenge by Cornwall's Rae to deny Somerset striker Laura Bray from scoring.
On 28 minutes Somerset had another good chance to score but Ellie Dove's effort went close.
After the break, Somerset upped a gear and Charlotte Plumb was just off target, Sophie Gildey hit the bar and Dove shot just over the bar.
On 56 minutes Gidley made amends for her earlier miss by slotting past Cornwall keeper Emma Chown for the equaliser.
Two minutes later, Somerset's Dove cleared a deflected Cornish corner off the line.
After 67 minutes Somerset brought on their secret weapon in Helen Bleazard and ir was Bleazard who netted in the 72nd and 75th minutes whilst Cornwall went down to 10 players through injury. Both goals were crackers to bring her total to eight in three matches. The first was a drive from 20 yards and for the second, after taking a corner, the ball was punched back to her and she fired home from way out over Chown's head.
On 84 minutes a shot by Cornwall;s Rose Knuckey was just wide.
In the 90th minute Cornwall keeper Chown saved brilliantly from Gidley and deep in to time added on Bray made it 4-1 for Somerset.
Somerset are the Group winners and will be away to Hampshire in the Final in April.

Match Report Dorset 0 - 4 Cornwall in the South and West Counties U18 Women's Championship on Sunday 21st October 2007 at Weymouth FC.
Cornwall were full value for this excellent victory over Dorset at Weymouth Town’s Wessex Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors looked to attack the Dorset goal at every opportunity and took an early lead when Kat Dawe (Falmouth Town) ran clear as a hesitant home defence to score with a low shot into the left hand corner of the goal after 7 minutes. They should have increased the lead some five minutes later but Sophie Weedon shot wide after running clear of the home defence. Dorset looked to attack on the break but defenders Sam Drury (Saltash Utd) and Amy Hemingway (Penzance) were playing well and kept the home attack in check. Dorset keeper Christine Byrne (Broadstone) was quickly off her line to deny Alice Rae (Mullion) and Kat Dawe as Cornwall continued to attack the home goal before defender Naomi Dixon (Weymouth) had the misfortune to knock a low cross into her own net to give Cornwall a 2-0 lead after 43 minutes. Cornwall went further ahead just before the break when Rose Knuckey (Penzance) ran on to a through ball to score.
Second half exchanges were even as Dorset looked to get back into the game but it was Cornwall who extended their lead on the hour when Rose Knuckey hit home the rebound after Dorset’s substitute goalkeeper Felicity Carroll did well to parry her well struck first drive. Dorset continued to press but Cornwall’s defence was playing well with debutant goalkeeper Emma Chown (Wendron) looking safe. The home side had the ball in the Cornwall net after 70 minutes but the effort was disallowed for offside and with ten minutes remaining Kat Dawes right wing cross found Rose Knuckey whose first time shot hit the bar.
