Truro City U16 Girls progress to national final
Truro City girls were victorious at the Tesco Cup South West Regional Final in Bristol this weekend. The team, who put in a great performance, will now represent South West England at the National Final, to be held at Pride Park stadium, Derby on May 9.
Truro won their round robin group and finished the day unbeaten. The team managed to win three of their four games 1-0, drawing the remaining fixture 2-2.
Bristol Rovers Captain Stuart Campbell attended the event in Bristol and chose talented Nicola Russell from Truro as Player of the Tournament after she demonstrated impressive skill on the pitch. More glory was awarded to the team, as Sophie Wilson was awarded Midfielder of the Tournament.
Team Manager Rob Brandreth said, “We are immensely proud of the girls, it was a fantastic effort. We are now all really excited about travelling to Derby next week.”
Upadte: Truro City U16 girls took part in the Tesco Cup England Finals at Derby County FC on Sunday 9th May 2010. They met Central England winners, Cambridge City and bowed out of the competition, beaten 1-0.
