Charter Standard is the quality mark for all local football clubs to achieve by having qualified coaches; good practice codes of conducts for players, coaches, managers, parents and spectators.
Charter Standard Mini-Soccer Festival 2010
The 2010 Festival is on Sunday 12th September at Newquay Tretherras School and Newquay Sports Centre. The Festival concentrates on the age groups who play Mini-Soccer – the small-sided game for children.
Any club with The FA Charter Standard status can enter teams from under-7 through to under-11 age groups. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 games with certificates and medals for all participating players.
Young players will be able to try out their skills in specially set-up coaching areas while their club coaches can get expert help and advice from professional FA Tesco Skills coaches. There'll also be free Respect programme give-aways.
Phil Cardew, Cornwall FA’s Football Development Officer, said “All teams will be put into leagues with all age groups being participation only with no league winners and runners up etc. This, we hope, will allow clubs to bring along their players who may not always get a game every week and let them join in.
“The aim of the festival is to thank and reward the Charter Standard Clubs in the county for achieving and maintaining the standards demanded by The FA Charter Standard scheme.”
The closing date for applications is Friday 20th August 2010. More details and an application pack are available on the right.
Charter Standard InService Events
As part of the commitment once awarded the FA Charter Standard, a club must attend a minimum of at least one in-service event per year. More importantly, Cornwall FA hopes these events, which are free to Charter Standard clubs, will be seen as a real benefit to clubs - a reward for achieving and retaining the Charter Standard status.
Between March and August 2010, the topics are:
- dealing with injuries
- team play: progression from small-sided to 11-a-side
- practices for developing team play
- development CS workshop
- stand-in referees course
- Mini-Soccer Match Day course
More details and how to book are available on the right.
