Charter Standard

The quality mark for all  local football clubs to achieve by putting in place elements such as qualified coaches; good practice codes of conducts for players, coaches, managers, parents and spectators.

Charter Standard Mini-Soccer Festival 2010

The 2010 Festival is at Newquay Tretherras School on Sunday 2nd May and concentrates on the age groups who play Mini-Soccer – the small-sided game for children.

Any club with The FA Charter Standard status can enter teams from under-7 through to under-10 age groups. Girls teams at under-10 and under-12 ages groups can enter too. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 games with certificates and medals for all participating players.

The additions to last year’s festival are back. Young players will be able to try out their skills in specially set-up coaching areas while their club coaches can get expert help and advice from professional FA Tesco Skills coaches.

Phil Cardew, Cornwall FA’s Football Development Officer, said “All teams will be put into leagues with all age groups being participation only with no league winners and runners up etc. This, we hope, will allow clubs to bring along their players who may not always get a game every week and let them join in.

“The aim of the festival is to thank and reward the Charter Standard Clubs in the county for achieving and maintaining the standards demanded by The FA Charter Standard scheme.”

The closing date for applications is Friday 16th April. More information and the application form is available on the right.

Charter Standard InService Events
As part of being a registered FA Charter Standard Club you must attend a minimum of at least one in-service event per year as a commitment to retaining your Charter Standard status. More importantly, Cornwall FA hopes that these events, which are free to Charter Standard clubs, will be seen as a real benefit to clubs - a reward for achieving and retaining the Charter Standard status.

A variety of events are held in any one year covering topics including coaching specific age groups, dealing with injuries, goalkeeping, and a stand-in referees course. Details are circulated to CS clubs.
