Cornwall County Football Association was formed at a meeting held at the Royal Hotel in Truro on Wednesday 18th September 1889. Representatives from the following clubs were there - Porthcurnow, Penzance, Truro, Probus School, Liskeard, Dunheved College (Launceston), Torpoint and Millbrook.
The first Senior Cup was played at Liskeard on 3rd April 1893. 300 people saw Penzance defeat Launceston by 5-0. By the 1949 Final, the attendance was around 15,000 and gate receipts reached £1,000 for the first time. The annual turnover of the organisation is now around £400,000.
The CCFA moved to its present Headquarters in St Austell in March 1997. It now employs 7 staff. The Football Development department assists 4 Football Development officers based around the county.
Nearly 400 clubs are affiliated to Cornwall FA. There are around 500 teams playing 11-a-side football in Cornwall, making it by far the most popular sport. In addition, there are a further 300 teams playing youth football and 250 playing small sided games.
Cornwall FA is responsible for the administration of association football in the County including discipline, rules and regulations, county cups and representative matches, development of clubs and facilities, referees, coaching courses and delivering national football schemes. We encourage people of all ages, genders and abilities to be involved with as well as play football.
In addition to the Senior Cup, Cornwall CFA organises the Junior Cup, the Sunday Cup, the Women's Cup, two Youth Cups and the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup.
31 Leagues are affiliated to the County FA covering 11 a-side, 6 and 5 a-side, men's, women's and youngsters from Under 9 to Under 18 years of age.
There are 4 County Representative teams - Men's, Women's, Youth and Gilrs U18s - who play in a variety of competitive and representative matches throughout the season.
The County Colours are Old Gold and Black.
